About Munchkin Jerry Maren
Jerry Maren was an American actor who played a Munchkin member of the Lollipop Guild in the 1939 classic MGM film, Wizard of Oz.
He became the last surviving adult Munchkin in 2014, and was also the last cast member with a specifically identifiable speaking part. He died in 2018 at the age of 98. He was the only cast member to endorse and approve of a Munchkin-themed book series.
Born in 1920 as one of 12, he played the green-garbed member of the Lollipop Guild, handing a lollipop to Dorothy Gale (Judy Garland). He was 18 or 19 when the movie was filmed. He stood three foot-six at the time. Hormone treatments later in life allowed him to be a foot taller.
He appeared in over 60 films and 35 television appearances over a 78-year span. His films included Hello, Dolly!, Planet of the Apes, and Dahmer vs. Gacy. His TV appearances include: Adventures of Superman, Bob Hope Christmas Special, Get Smart, The Odd Couple, Charlie’s Angels, Seinfeld, and The Daily Show.
On November 21, 2007, Maren appeared with six other Munchkin actors when their Hollywood Star was unveiled on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for being the Wizard of Oz Munchkins.
